Political correctness got an outing this week

Political correctness got an outing this week. In the health debate in the Seanad on Wednesday, FG Senator Madeleine Taylor Quinn referred in her speech to one Senator Jackperson. As Senators tried to contain themselves, Taylor Quinn repeated the name. FG's Senator Mary Jackman, who was sitting close by, looked slightly uneasy but bears no ill feelings. When appraised of her error, Taylor Quinn undertook to have it corrected in the official record and Jackman said she is often addressed as Jackperson and in the interests of equality, she doesn't object.
