Jerusalem - Palestinians blasted Israeli targets with mortar bombs and Syria warned it had the right to retaliate for an Israeli air raid, as the United States and Europe struggled to ease tension in the Middle East.
Palestinians launched two mortars from the Gaza Strip yesterday into an area of Israel near the Nir Oz communal farm, in an attack of the kind that provoked Israel to briefly reoccupy parts of Gaza this week. No one was hurt in the bombardment.
