A woman whose gas oven exploded in her face has failed in a claim for up to £15,000 damages against the suppliers and the Eastern Health Board.

Ms Rosaleen Dunne (36), of Kiltalawn Green, Tallaght, Co Dublin, told Judge Liam Devally that when she opened the oven to inspect a pizza she was cooking there was an explosion. Her eyebrows and hair were singed and her hands and right leg burned.

Judge Devally, dismissing the claim, told Mr Declan Doyle, counsel for the EHB and Sea Song Ltd, trading as Domesticare, Capel Street, Dublin, that there had been an inexcusable delay in the claims against his clients being brought to court.

He said he had been influenced by the fact that while Ms Dunne had visited the health board several times after the accident in August 1990, there was no record of mention or complaint about an explosion.
