London - Nearly 200 children who died in operations at a controversial British hospital had their hearts and other organs kept without their bereaved parents' knowledge, it was disclosed yesterday.

An action group said it believed that at least 170 hearts had been stored after operations at the Bristol Royal Infirmary during a 12-year period to 1995. The hospital confirmed that organs were retained for further examination, education or audit purposes.
