One of the three men killed in overnight road accidents has been named.

One of the three men killed in overnight road accidents has been named.

Mr Owen Lehane, of Castle Street, Dunmanway, Co Cork died when his car crashed into a ditch near Ballinahassig in Co Cork at around 8 a.m. this morning. He was in his late 20's.

Two other men also died in separate road accidents in Co Donegal and Co Tipperary this morning.

A man (42) died when his car left the road and crashed at Umricam, near Buncrana, just before 1 a.m. Gardaí believe the man was from Northern Ireland.

In a separate incident, a pedestrian in his early fifties was killed when he was struck by a car in Ballybeg, near Thurles in Co Tipperary, at around 4 a.m.

Neither of the victims has been named.

Six people have died in accidents over the weekend that included a collision between an engineering locomotive and a stationary train in Northern Ireland.
