WELLINGTON - The British government's decision not to pay compensation to veterans of nuclear testing in the 1950s was disappointing but not surprising, the chairman of the New Zealand veterans' association said yesterday.
Mr Roy Sefton, who chairs the New Zealand Nuclear Test Veterans Association, said his organisation's British counter part had received a letter from the British Ministry of Defence, telling it of the government's decision. This was a reversal of previous Labour Party policy, he said.
