Toll road operator NTR has reported pre tax profits of €12.6 million in the first six months of the year in a 63.7 per cent increase on the same period last year.
Revenue at the group, which has expanded into waste management and the alternative energy market, increased by 30.8 per cent, from €96.2 million to €125.8 million.
Airtricity's turnover alone jumped 42.6 per cent to €60.4 million, up 42.6 per cent in the first six months of the year.
Airticity, in which NTR has a 51 per cent interest, has a customer base of 27,600 in the Republic, an increase of 1,200 during the period and 4,200 in Northern Ireland, an increase of 1,300.
Capital expenditure in the period amounted to €92.5 million. This comprised windfarm development of €49 million, landfill development of €25 million, and assorted other capital projects.
Group net debt stood at €203.8 million at June 30th 2004, up from €170.5 million at the end of 2003.
Toll income to the State from the West-Link and East-Link toll scheme operations, for the period, amounted to €16.3 million. Traffic at West-Link increased by 10 per cent due to the opening of the second West-Link bridge.
