A man had nothing to say after he was charged with the murder of his 37-year-old partner in Dublin at the weekend, a court was told yesterday.

On Saturday morning gardaí went to Mary Ryan’s residence at Sherrard Street, Dublin 1, and found her unconscious at the foot of the stairs. She was brought to the Mater hospital, were she subsequently died.

Yesterday, Waldemar Solowiow (44), with an address at a flat on Sherrard Street, was brought before Dublin District Court charged with the murder of Ms Ryan at the home they shared. Judge Malone granted legal aid and remanded Mr Solowiow, who has not yet indicated how he intends to plead, in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on May 29th.
