Oslo - A record 56.7 per cent of the population in Norway would say No to joining the EU in the event of a referendum, a survey by the daily Nationen newspaper showed yesterday. The figure is 15.7 per cent higher than that given in a survey last June and 4.5 per cent higher than in a referendum held in 1994, when neighbouring Sweden and Finland both decided to join the EU.

Meanwhile, Finnish attitudes toward the EU have cooled, a new opinion poll showed. In the poll by Finnish Gallup, 49 per cent said the EU had a positive impact on Finland's development, down from a similar survey last year.
