Nine dead in Somali fighting

MOGADISHU - Fighting between rival Somali factions erupted in Mogadishu yesterday, with at least nine people killed and 21 wounded, residents said. Heavily armed fighters loyal to Mr Muhammad Farah Aideed fought forces of his main rival, Mr Ali Mahdi Muhammad, along the "green line" battle zone dividing the shattered city and in the Medina district of south Mogadishu.
