A WEST Dublin man has been remanded in custody in connection with the death of Helen Donegan (30), whose body was found in the boot of a car last week.

Bernard Curran (52), of no fixed address, but who was said to be from the Newcastle area of Dublin, was remanded to Thursday’s sitting of Clondalkin District Court.

Mr Curran said nothing during a brief appearance before Judge Patrick J McMahon at Blanchardstown District Court.

Det Sgt Declan Dunne of Clondalkin Garda station gave evidence of the arrest and charging of Mr Curran with murder on Sunday evening.

Sgt Dunne said Mr Curran had replied: “I don’t know what to say. I suppose just it was an accident. It was not intentional.”

Judge McMahon consented to a defence request for psychiatric and psychological assessments.
