Detectives launched a murder inquiry today after a man's body was discovered in Co Armagh.

The victim was found lying by the roadside at Marlacoo on the main Portadown to Markethill Road shortly before 11 a.m.

Police say they are investigating a link between an incident at Ballyreagh in Richill around 2 a.m. in which masked men abducted a man from his home.

It is believed the gang took the man in a green Seat Ibiza.

Detectives are investigating a number of possible motives for the killing but do not believe it was sectarian.

The area where the murder took place is mainly loyalist.

According to sources, the victim was found with a bag over his head.

According to local sources, the dead man and his family moved to the Ballyreagh Road area from north Belfast a few years ago.

The victim was found dead less than a mile from his bungalow.
