Gardaí and the prison service are investigating a fire at Mountjoy Prison yesterday that led to five inmates being taken to hospital.
It is believed the prisoners were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire started in a cell in the basement at about 8pm last night. According to gardaí, four of the inmates have now left hospital.
It is thought the fire was started deliberately.
There were no injuries among the jail staff.
