Motorcyclist dies in Limerick road crash

A motorcyclist has died after his motorcycle was in a collision with a car near Adare in Co Limerick yesterday evening.

The 31-year-old man is believed to be from Limerick. His name has not yet been released.

His death brings to four the number of people who have died on the State's roads so far this Bank Holiday weekend.

Earlier yesterday morning a nine-month-old baby girl was killed and her three-year-old brother critically injured when the car in which they were travelling with their parents was in collision with a lorry in Co Wexford.

The infant was named as Katie Clarges from Loughlinstown, Co Dublin. Her brother Connell is in a critical condition in Beaumount Hospital in Dublin.

The children's parents, Paul and Grainne, were not seriously hurt and are still being treated in Wexford.

The lorry driver is being treated for shock.

The crash happened at Ashfield Cross on the main Rosslare to Wexford road at 10.30 a.m.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
