Thirty more Taliban and al-Qaeda detainees have left Afghanistan for the US prison camp in Cuba.

The prisoners, shackled and with white caps covering their faces, shuffled into a C-17 transport plane for the flight to Guantanamo Bay..

Two US troops flanked each of the detainees as they walked across the tarmac to the aircraft.

Lights at the US base at the Kandahar airport were off except for red low intensity lights and green chemical lighting.

Security has been tight with attack dogs and vehicles with 50-caliber machine guns patrolling the area.

The first group of 20 detainees left earlier this week for the US facility.
