An angry mob had to be removed from a sitting of Limerick District Court today when a man accused of an arson attack appeared.

Mr Patrick Slattery (22) from Garryglass avenue, Ballinacurra-Weston is charged with causing a fire at Lenihan Avenue last Sunday.

Four-year-old Katelyn Ryan died after receiving severe burns in the fire at her home.

As Mr Slattery appeared this morning, a group of about 20 people hurled abuse at him from the back of the courtroom. They were removed but the disturbance continued outside the courthouse.

Mr Slattery was remanded to appear in court again on Wednesday, April 16th.
