Racing: Tony McCoy was taken to hospital this afternoon after suffering a fall while on board Arnold Layne in the totesport.com Classic Chase at Warwick.

The 3-1 favourite was still in contention when the grey barely raised a leg at a fence down the back straight on the second circuit.

McCoy was initially taken back to the weighing room for further assessment.

Clerk of the course Fiona Needham said: "Tony is going to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry for further assessment to his lower back.

"He is still on a stretcher, but he is conscious and is talking."
