A man (30) has been shot in Northern Ireland in an attack which bore all the hallmarks of a paramilitary attack, police said today.

The victim was shot in both legs by a gang of men who forced their way into his home in north Belfast late last night.

He answered a knock at the front door of his home in Duneden Park and was confronted by three or four masked men who pushed their way in.

Two men each shot him in the legs before the attackers made off through the back door.

A woman (22) and three-year-old boy who were in the house at the time were shocked but otherwise unhurt.
