A young Co Clare man was fighting for his life in Cork University College Hospital last night after an alleged assault in Ennis on Sunday night. Alan O'Donnell (20), from Crusheen, was described by a hospital spokeswoman as being in a "critical condition". Garda∅ yesterday arrested a local 27-year-old man in connection with the alleged assault at an Ennis nightclub. The man was released without charge last night.
