Gardai are investigating a serious assault at Drimnagh Road, Dublin, on Sunday night, when a young man was walking home at about 10.45 p.m. He was attacked by three youths armed with a lump hammer and iron bars and suffered a number of blows to the head. He was taken to St James's hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
