A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody until next week charged with the possession of a firearm, ammunition and a gun silencer in north Dublin.

Derek Hutch, of Chapel Farm Avenue, Lusk, Co Dublin, was charged at Dublin District Court with possession of a Czech semi-automatic pistol at Ballybough Road at 11pm on Sunday.

He was also charged with possession of seven rounds of ammunition and a firearm silencer.

Judge William Earley remanded Mr Hutch in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court next Tuesday at 10.30am.
