A Co Sligo man appeared at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin yesterday charged in connection with the shooting of Mr Terence Madden.

Mr Madden (52) was shot in both legs as he got into his car in the driveway of his home at Monasteraden, Co Sligo, last January. He died at the scene.

Mr Patrick McGrath (56) of Cuilprughlish, Gurteen, Co Sligo, was charged with possession of a single-barrelled, sawnoff shotgun with intent to enable another person to endanger life at Gurteen on or about January 28th last. He was also charged with intentionally causing serious harm to Mr Madden at Monasteraden on the same date. He was remanded in custody.
