A man who carried out two robberies at knife-point while on the run from prison has been remanded in custody until November 20th by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court for sentence. Paul Flood (31), of Sheriff Street, pleaded guilty to the robberies at the Abbey News Shop on December 27th, 1994, and Gresham News, O'Connell Street, the following day.

Garda Colm Collins said Flood had a history of substance abuse and a grave medical condition. In both cases, he threatened female shop assistants with a knife before running off with money. He was arrested on O'Connell Street shortly after the second offence.
