A young man underwent surgery last night after he was shot in Finglas, Dublin. The shooting happened at around 11.25 p.m. in Ratoath Drive, reports Cormac O'Keeffe.

The youth (21), who is from Finglas, was shot twice in the lower back by possibly two men. However, gardai said the injuries were not life-threatening.

Gardai in Finglas said the man was known to them and that the shooting may be related to a feud. Last night they were questioning a number of witnesses, but no arrests were made.

The injured man was brought to James Connolly Memorial Hospital, in Blanchardstown.

A hospital spokesperson confirmed last night that the man was due to undergo surgery.
