A man was being questioned last night about the attempted aggravated robbery of an elderly couple in their Dublin home last night.

Three men broke into the couple's house in Mobhi Road, Glasnevin, shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday. One of the men threatened the couple, who are in their 70s, with what appeared to be a handgun.

The couple were badly shaken, but not physically injured and gardai said the "gun" used by the raiders could have been an imitation. The intruders did not succeed in taking any money or valuables.

Gardai from nearby Whitehall Station were on the scene soon after the break-in following a tip-off call. A 25-year-old man was arrested and brought to the station for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
