A man has been held in custody at Galway District Court charged with the rape of a Galway teenager last week

A man has been held in custody at Galway District Court charged with the rape of a Galway teenager last week. The man, aged 24, a non-national, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared before a special sitting of the court last Friday evening, where he was charged with the rape of a girl, aged under 15 years, in Salthill. Mr Adrian MacLynn, solicitor, who had represented the accused man last week, asked yesterday to be taken off the case. Another solicitor was appointed from the Legal Aid panel. Judge John Garavan remanded him in custody to appear again on February 21st.
