A Wexford man was this evening found guilty at the Central Criminal Court of the murder of a man in the town in September of 2001.
After deliberating for more than eight hours the jury returned a guilty majority verdict to murder.
Nicholas Donnelly, (27) of Talbot Green, Wexford had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Gordon Farrell (20) in the early hours of September 23rd 2001.
Imposing sentence, Mr Justice Dairmuid O'Donovan, said the only option available to him was a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment.
Donnelly stood motionless as the verdict was returned while his mother wept openly in the courtroom.
The family of Mr Farrell sighed with relief as they sat at the back of court two in the Central Criminal Court.
Addressing the jury, Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donovan commended their service saying they had "served the people of Ireland well" and the jury members from service for the next fifteen years.
