Man fatally stabbed in Dublin

One man has died and another injured following a fight in Sandymount, Dublin this morning.

One man has died and another injured following a fight in Sandymount, Dublin this morning.

The man died after receiving a stab wound during the altercation on Londonbridge Road, shortly after 2am.

He was taken to St Vincents Hospital where he died a short time later.

Gardaí later named the victim as Mark Spellman (26) of Dalkey, Co Dublin.

A second man (20) who was injured during the incident is also being treated at St Vincents Hospital, his injuries are not life threatening.

The scene of the incident has been sealed off and is being examined by a team from the Garda Technical Bureau.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who was in the Bath Avenue/Londonbridge Road areas at around 2am this morning and who may have witnessed an altercation close to the Lansdowne Tennis Club to contact them.
