A nineteen year old man was sentenced to three years in jail today at Ennis Circuit Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing the deaths of two Kilkee teenagers three years ago.

David Naughton, who was 15 at the time of the offence, crashed the car he was driving into a sea wall at Carrigaholt, Co Clare. Stacey Haugh (16) and Lorna Mahoney (13), who were back seat passengers, were killed instantly.

In sentencing, Judge Con Murphy said Naughton had been on a "campaign of dangerous driving" on the evening of the accident.

The judge took Naughton's young age and the fact that he pleaded guilty into account in handing out the sentence.
