More than 40 drivers were arrested in Limerick for drink- driving over Christmas

More than 40 drivers were arrested in Limerick for drink- driving over Christmas. The detection rate was up 30 per cent but, according to Supt Tony Kennelly, the figures were distorted because of the record amount of traffic and economic activity. Gardai also had a record number of checkpoints in December and more gardai on the streets, which resulted in a significant drop in crime.
