Lille midfielder Bruno Cheyrou is on course to sign for Liverpool when the French transfer season opens, his club manager Pierre Dreossi said today.
"Contacts will Liverpool are well-advanced," said Dreossi.
"But we cannot sign anything before the transfer season starts officially on May 15th."
Media reports speculated that Liverpool would pay six million euros ($5.5 million) for the promising midfielder. Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier's visit to Lille on Saturday strengthened the rumour.
Cheyrou, 24, is one of the most coveted players in France. He scored 11 goals this season.
