Jerusalem - Mr David Levy, who resigned in protest last week from Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's coalition, yesterday met the rightwing opposition leader, Mr Ariel Sharon, Israeli television reported.

The former foreign minister talked with Mr Sharon about a possible realliance with his Likud party, the television said. Mr Levy is head of Guescher, a party aimed toward Jews of Sephardic, or Middle Eastern, origin, which has only two deputies in the Israeli parliament.
