A Kildare farmer was fined £3,000 at Kilcock District Court yesterday when he pleaded guilty to three summonses relating to illegal growth promoters.

Thomas Campbell, The Grove, Abbey Farm, Celbridge, had pleaded guilty to possession of a hormone cartridge, clenbuterol (angel dust) and other controlled substances at his farm at Taghadoe, Maynooth.

The offences took place on October 20th, 1994, when his farm was raided by the Department of Agriculture inquiry team inspectors.
