The confirmed death toll from a double bus crash in Kenya rose to 33 today as rescuers pulled one of the buses out of the swollen river into which it had plunged.

Relatives and friends of the victims shouted and cried by the river bank as the bloated bodies of the victims were laid out on canvas sheets three days after the accident.

The two buses plunged on Sunday from a bridge north of the Indian Ocean town of Malindi after one slammed into the other.

Thirteen bodies were recovered from the crash site almost immediately, and another 20 were pulled out this morning from inside the bus where they had died.
