Incredibly, the support that my colleague Denis Taylor has had from people in the South, and that I have had from people in the North, is contrary to some people's understanding. When Taylor won the World Championship in 1985 and I in 1997, there was reputedly not one solitary emergency call in the last hour of our matches. To believe that people postponed their heart attacks for an hour and all other emergency calls for an hour, seems incredible. It is a wonderful Irish story - perhaps only an Irishman could tell it and be believed.
