Journalism prize for DCU student

A journalism student at Dublin City University is the Science and Technology Journalist of the Year for 1998

A journalism student at Dublin City University is the Science and Technology Journalist of the Year for 1998. Edel Morgan won with an article which explored government plans to integrate information technology systems across the social services and to introduce data-sharing between the different agencies.

The runner-up position went to Claire Palmer, a student of media studies and English at the University of Ulster in Coleraine, who wrote about the safety of genetically-modified food.

A special commendation went to Margaret Ward, a journalism student at DCU, whose article covered new food safety directives from the EU.
