Ireland¿s defending World Champions, Tony O¿Connor and Gearoid Towey have won their lightweight pairs semi-final in Seville today, beating Britain and Canada to progress to the final.

Meanwhile the Mens' four-boat manned by Derek Holland, Neal Casey, Richard Archibald and Paul Griffin failed to qualify from their race. Despite a powerful start that saw them lead at the 500 metre mark the quartet failed to saty the pace to finish in fourth.

Earlier Neal Byrne and Eugene Coakley, finished in third place of their 'C' semi-final to qualify for the 'C' final tomorrow.
