Thousands of north Dublin homes have power restored

Outage due to a fault impacted some 15,000 homes on Monday evening

Thousands of homes hit by a Dublin power outage lasting for much of Monday evening, have had their power restored.

A number of areas in north Dublin were hit by a significant power outage, which ESB Networks said affected more than 15,000 homes.

Areas affected included Fairview, Drumcondra, East Wall, and Clontarf, with the power outage occurring shortly after 6pm. The outage was due to a fault, which occurred just after 6pm, an ESB Networks spokesman said.

A spokesman for ESB Networks said several thousand people affected by the outage had power restored by 8pm. All areas had power restored shortly after 10pm, the ESB Networks powerchecker showed.

A further 1,200 homes or other customers were affected by the outages in East Wall and the North Quays but were restored after a few hours.

ESB Networks has apologised for the loss of supply.
