Man dies following car crash in Co Laois

A man in his 60s has died following a two-car collision in Laois shortly after midday on Tuesday afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating the crash, which occurred in Clonaghdoo, just outside Mountmellick at 12.30pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second a car, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Tullamore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The road is currently closed to facilitate a technical examination of the scene and traffic diversions are in place.
