A man has been charged following the stabbing of another man at a house in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The victim, aged in his 30s, sustained serious injuries during the incident and was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí backed up by the Armed Response Unit arrested the man in Harmonstown a short distance away from where the assault took place.

He was taken to Beaumont Hospital. He has since been discharged from hospital.

He was taken to Coolock Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged in relation to this incident and was due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice on Thursday morning.

The victim has since been discharged from Beaumont Hospital.
