A Garda spokesman said the man had been arrested in connection with alleged involvement in a criminal organisation, and facilitating money laundering related to the suspected proceeds of drug trafficking.

The man is currently being held in Mountjoy Garda Station.

Detective Chief Superintendent Seamus Boland, head of the drugs and organised crime bureau, said the investigation was ongoing.

Det Chief Supt Boland said the bureau “will continue to prioritise the targeting of assets that are believed to be proceeds of crime, with a view to seizing the assets and initiating prosecutions in relation to those suspected to be engaged in money laundering and associated offences”.
