The Republic of Ireland will host world champions Brazil in a friendly soccer international at Lansdowne Road on February 18th.
"We're delighted to be able to bring the world champions to Dublin in February following detailed discussions. It's a fantastic match to look forward to and kicks off the 2004 fixtures with the most attractive proposition in world soccer", FAI CEO Fran Rooney said today.
The two sides have met on three occasions and on their last trip to Dublin, in May 1987, the Brazilians lost 1-0 with Liam Brady striking to give Jack Charlton's men a memorable victory.
Ireland will also play the Czech Republic, ranked sixth in the world and contenders for the Euro 2004 championships in the summer, at the Dublin 4 venue in March. A date for the game has yet to be fixed.
