BAGHDAD - Iraq's child mortality rate has more than trebled in the five years of UN trade sanctions because of shortages of food and medicine, a health ministry official said. The death rate was 92 per 1,000 births in 1995 compared with 25 in 1989 before the imposition of sanctions.
