Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said the US war on terrorism is terrorising weaker countries in a campaign to achieve world domination.
Iran has reacted strongly to US charges it is part of an "axis of evil", and its leaders have led criticism against Israel and the United States.
"The September 11th attacks in New York have served as a pretext for the coercive policies of the White House and emboldened the Zionists to continue their savage crimes and atrocities against the Palestinian people," Khamenei said in a message to Haj pilgrims faxed to Reuterstoday.
He called on world Muslims to unite against the twin evils of US arrogance and Israeli atrocities.
Although Iran's moderate president, Mr Mohammad Khatami, was initially praised by the West for his swift condemnation of the September 11th attacks, Iran now finds itself under verbal attack from Washington.
The United States has accused Iran of supporting terrorism in Israel and the Palestinian-ruled territories, pursuing weapons of mass destruction and trying to destabilise the fragile peace in Afghanistan - all charges Tehran vehemently denies.
