An investigation into counterfeit CDs has been launched following the suspension of three prison officers from Mountjoy prison.

Over a hundred DVDs - some thought to be of a pornographic nature - were seized in Mountjoy Prison yesterday.

It is thought copies were being sold on to people outside the jail.

Gardaí entered the prison yesterday afternoon to investigate a possible breach of copyright laws. They interviewed three prison officers, who were thensuspended last night.

A garda spokesman said none of the men had been arrested.

The Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, has launched an investigation by senior prison management into the claims.
