Synthetic sheer silk stockings which do not easily ladder! A test of their durability proved that they could be worn for six weeks without running. Much more long-lived than the most expensive silk stockings!

These are the stockings which are produced from nylon - the new chemical substance which science has made from coal, air and water. They are the stocking which women have been looking for many years - because they do not ladder! But alas! I have only just hear of them, when I am told that, although American women are already wearing them, we are not likely to see them in this country for some time to come, because the British Government will commandeer all the nylon that can be produced for aircraft construction.

This synthetic silk fabric, in all probability, will take the place of the Japanese silks. And that reminds me, there is a rare opportunity here for an inventor of a machine (electric or otherwise) for mending ladders in stockings. Now gladly would the makers of pure silk stockings welcome such a gadget, now that they have such a formidable rival as the nylon product!

There is, of course, a machine for mending ladders, but, being very expensive, it is only used in the trade. What is needed is one that is inexpensive and suitable for home use! Inventors, get busy!
