New Delhi - The Indian Prime Minister, Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee, said yesterday India was committed to a "path of direct bilateral dialogue" with Pakistan and wanted the earliest possible resumption of peace talks.

Meanwhile, in Vienna, Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, condemned India's recent nuclear tests as a "display of atomic muscle" trying to ape the "macho attitude" of the United States.
