A team from the International Monetary Fund has arrived in Buenos Aires to assess new emergency measures adopted in a bid to salvage Argentina's shattered economy.

Members of the "technical" team planned meetings with government officials to discuss the new economic legislation adopted yesterday.

The visit comes ahead of planned negotiations in early February between the IMF and Argentina, which is seeking more than $15 billion in international aid.
