The Irish Aviation Authority is the first recipient of a new award from the International Air Transport Association for its services to world airlines. The authority controls 100,000 square miles of airspace between the North Atlantic and Europe - and 70 per cent of all traffic between Europe and the US flies through Irish-controlled airspace every year.
