A hoax caller claiming to be from the so-called "Real IRA" shut down part of the Dublin to Belfast train line with a bomb threat.

Passengers were transferred by bus between Portadown and Newry while the section was inspected by the RUC.

In February the section of the line between Dundalk and Portadown was closedfor two days after a series of explosions near Newry.
